Luci Phurr’s Imps “Calls & Punishment” #4

The whole series of events revolving around hanging on the line, waiting to talk to someone was inspired by my own attempts to chat with Courtney about the strips.  Regularly we’ll be in the middle of a story conference and he’ll abruptly shout, “HOLD!” and he’s gone.

Three days later he’ll return as if nothing is wrong with a cheery “Where were we?”

Curiously he does this while we’re chatting on Instant Messenger as well.

This appears to be a very exciting and funny series. Keep up the good work. I really like the art from what I’ve seen so far.

Thanks. We have an art team that just goes from strength to strength. I’ve seen future strips and it just dazzles me how good they are. A challenge for me to keep up with the standards they set.

Good start, though I am hoping the story starts moving along. There are only so many Pratchett-esque throw away jokes you can use before it starts reading like “Good Omens”. Let’s try to avoid that if we can.

Hopefully you’ll stick around and find out where we’re taking it. I think you’ll find a complete lack of stick insects, hell hounds and there’s absolutely no one who speaks in CAPITALS.

(And don’t sell Gaiman short on that book.)

Pain looks almost…peaceful…and…docile?!? For the love of all that’s unholy, what have they done to him?!? Music can’t have a permanent effect…can it?

Never fear, Pain will soon regain his former personality traits. Whether that is good or not….

The last few strips have been near and dear to my heart. I have been sent from machine to machine to machine while trying to contact customer service at the phone company. I actually end up screaming into the phone with words best left unsaid. And I know I am talking to a machine, yet I still do it. Catharsis I guess.

I have a theory that there are actually people, who can hear the call, sitting there listening and giggling, as you press buttons and shout and weep and shout some more, taking bets on when you’ll hang-up.

Your call is important to us. If you call back three more times, then we get our bonus for the month! YES!!

Heres where I play with phones.
1.When a telemarketer calls, feign interest.
    2. Get his (or her) hopes up into thinking you’re a sap.
    3. Devastate him.(or her)
