Luci Phurr’s Imps “Calls & Punishment” #7

For all you folks at home, playing along and keeping score, this strip was actually the very first one I wrote for the imps.  This was way back when the idea of doing something like this was just a vague possibility.

The original script had an extreme close-up of Pain, so you couldn’t see what he was wearing, then we’d see Alisdair in his hat, then the full reveal in the last panel.  I think Court’s decision to focus on Pain’s fingers as he counts off the evil he’s wrought is actually much better than my version.  (But don’t tell him, ‘cos it’ll just go to his head.)

Please take a moment to look to left, under the Facebook and Twitter links… yup, just under that Share doohicky.  There are a couple of buttons you can click to vote for us.  If you have a minute, we’d really appreciate your support.  Thanks in advance.

Is Pain ever going to live this one down?

  2. dale_mettam

    Nope. 😀

this is an awesome comic, i hope it becomes part of the big leagues that i know it can! as for imps, we never see too many and if we do, its only for a short bit where there doing chores or something. i love the concept, and i love imps! =) keep up the good work

Thanks for the VERY kind words. We’re having so much fun doing the strips. That you guys are enjoying reading what we do just makes it even better for us.

  5. Chibichibi

I don’t usually comment much, but the first three panels had me humming “Sympathy for the Devil”

This is a great comic, I hope it goes far, mostly for selfish reasons, I’d like to see more xD

  6. dale_mettam

Now you, me and everyone else is gonna spend the rest of the days saying “WOO WOO!” after every sentence! 😀

I too hope it goes far, for just as many selfish reasons.

And as if by magic, I might just be able to grant your wish. Some time towards the end of the month, the start of April at the latest, we’ll be announcing something new… something “more.”

And thanks for taking the time to comment. We appreciate hearing from you all.

lol He reminds me of Pain from the Disney Hercules movie.

But smarter…and knows how to be evil.

  8. dale_mettam

I know it’s completely wrong, but whenever I think of that movie I also always think of The Nutty Professor (remake). “Herc-i-leez! Herc-i-leez!”

  9. Chibichibi

Holy crap! So do I! xD *claps hands* Herc-i-leez! Herc-i-leez!

  10. dale_mettam

I am proud to say that I too have done the hand clap with it, in the middle of a mall while chanting. Quickest my wife EVER left a mall. 😀

I just love how the horns come through the kerchief. As if made especially for our favorite little monster. Yey!

  12. dale_mettam

On that head, with those horns, any hat becomes “custom.”

Mrs. Featherbottom reminds me of Arrested Development,. “It’s a magical day in the living roo-oohhhh” I LOVE this comic, it’s great! Got pointed to it by your talented colorist, and you are all doing fabulously. <3 Keep it up!

  14. dale_mettam

I’ve never actually seen a single episode of Arrested Development. I should probably rectify that with Netflix, right?

Glad your enjoying the strip… and it wouldn’t half as good without the efforts of our VERY talented colorist. For anyone who doesn’t know, she has her own webcomic here… go check it out.

As to the “Hercileez” thing, I know that was done on the TV show Hercules as well. Jumping handclap and all. And first comment, but been popping in occasionally. I keep coming back, so good work. XD

  16. dale_mettam

We’re glad to have you. Feel free to post more comments… if you have a mind to. Post questions on the linky think above as well… though there are no guarantees on the answers being of any use to anyone. 😀

Oh the horror, poor Pain has to play dress up. And to top it off he can’t hurt her as she is a paying client.

  18. dale_mettam

Pain, like Rodney Dangerfield, can’t get no respect.

The last panel had me cracking up as I read this at work. This comic is going to be a permanent part of my web comic reading. As another said, I will hope that you folks can become featured artists at cons soon, selling loads of goodies to allow you all to quit your day jobs and make this strip a career. It is seriously a laugh crack needed to survive the rough days. Thanks team.

  20. Visagor

Poor, poor, pain. Kya kya KA!

  21. Klobb

Green (forgot his domain) actually looks pretty cool… that could work as a “comically evil” outfitin any other context….
