Luci Phurr’s Imps “Cookies & the Call Center” #6

In the comment accompanying the last strip, we made a joke about animals and them being tasty and all.  It was certainly not our intent to offend or distress animal lovers, in any way, shape or form.  We here at Luci Phurr’s Imps are ALL animal lovers and we also have a healthy respect for all living things.  In fact I can assure that we ONLY eat tofu… FREE RANGE Tofu.

Because we care.

I don’t know what it says about me, but I actually like “The Girl from Ipanema”.

If you actually like “The Girl from Ipanema” you are in the right place. Pull up a chair and make yourself comfortable. 😀

  4. dale_mettam

I was actually going to try to add to the wiki entry (linked above) that “The Girl from Ipanema is a recurring theme of evil in the the Luci Phurr’s Imps webcomic.” but it seems we need someone to say that somewhere else, or in the world of wiki, it isn’t true.

So if any of you guys reading this, have a blog they want to enter that line, or a variant of, while discuss that LPI really does exist, please feel free… then let me know so that I can make it a reality in the wikiworld.

Of course, even then, if you did that, you would be a “Questionable Source.”

im listening to the song now…not my thing thats for sure…but it sounds familiar for some reason…not sure why since it was released in the 60’s, and i was born in the early 90’s, and my parents record player broke 20 years before i was born, and im DEAF (ok maybe not, but close to it!), youd think id have a hard time thinking ive heard that song before..

  6. Tegger the ORWA tankengine

also, isnt he just racking up the phone bill even more?

  7. dale_mettam

My guess is that on some genetic level, you’re recognizing the inherent evil in the song. That’s why it sounds familiar. Your fight or flight reaction is kicking in.

And Lou isn’t the brightest bulb. But he is determined.

  8. Tegger the ORWA tankengine

if i fight do i get boxing gloves? and them 2 socks and a nickel? or do i get a weapon of my choosing…and them 1 sock and no nickel…

  9. dale_mettam

The sad truth is you can’t fight The Girl from Ipanema. RUN!

  10. Byakugan01

No, don’t run. Record and then stick it in a remote controlled music player so you can blast it when the next board room meeting runs too long. Should help clear things up a bit I should think.

  11. dale_mettam

OH NO! What have I done!? Now you’re aware of the evil that is The Girl from Ipanema, you want to use it. Its insidious power is corrupting you even as I type!

  12. Byakugan01

I have earplugs. I don’t need to worry about it. 😀 And I just realized this: He’s not on hold anymore. How can they use music against him?

  13. dale_mettam

    OK, here’s basically what’s happening.

Lou has started talking, He’s complaining about this dubious call on his bill to a number in India (and be sure he plans to end the call with “…and I assume THIS call will not be billed to my number either, because if you hadn’t screwed up (remember, he doesn’t know about Pain’s call) I wouldn’t have had to make THIS call.”).

So he was on hold, then our hapless Call Center guy, Raj answers. And at that point, Lou starts. He’s the kinda guy who believes the best way to make your point is to not let the other person speak at all, let alone make a counter point. So he just starts talking… and talking… and talking… and talking… and talking… and talking… and talking. He’s oblivious to the fact that Raj has pressed the MUTE button. And he has no idea the evil about to be unleashed on him.

Oh wowzers… It’s really pretty. I may just… Buy it from a completely legal source so I hac have it for my MP3 player. >.>

    O.O Is that a Saxophone I hear!? <333333 I think I'm in love. I wish I still had time to play mine…

  15. dale_mettam

OMG!!! We have an LPI Code 2319!!!

We’ve lost another to THAT song.

  16. Byakugan01

    And the torment continues.

….. I LOVE “The Girl From Ipanema”!

Especially the Frank Sinatra version, it’s amazing.

  20. Chelsea

Hold on now. I love that song.

  21. Page-Mistress

Just listened to the song, and I’ve found I like it!

I also love that song! I’m not sure I can debate its evillity, though, as I have it in the playlist I listen to while video gaming. I have killed many men and beasts to that tune.

  23. Molento

I listened to this song for the first time and two things: one, it DOES sound familiar, but maybe that’s just my inherent evilness, and two, I actually like it. Again, reference my inherent evilness.
