Luci Phurr’s Imps “Cookies & the Call Center” #13

Fun Fact #1987:  In early drafts of the screenplay for the movie “Wall Street” several names were considered for the character played by Michael Douglas.  These included, Sal Salamander, Ignatious Iguana, Norman Natterjack-Toad (of the Hampton Natterjack-Toads) and Jerry Sandler.

Poor poor Pain. He’s about to experience the worst pain anyone can feel.

Also, Avarice must be listening to that old saying, “A fool and his money are soon parted” And i think Avarice is about to experience some pain as well xD

  2. keylaleigh

According to Trekkie Monster of Avenue Q, “In volatile market, only stable investment is porn!” Trekkie got ten million out of it. If Avarice told Pain to put his money in that, he’ll have no problem!

Well, money is tight, you’re gonna be staying in more… and if you’re gonna buy some entertainment you’ll be watching again and again…..

I think I’m going to quote a bit from one of my favorite books. Kinda shows just how well related Pain and Misfortune are, I think. The book is called Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews.

    “What happened to the alpha-wolf?”
    “LEGOs.”
“Legos?” It sounded Greek but I couldn’t recall anything mythological with that name. Wasn’t it an island?
“He was carrying a load of laundry into the basement and tripped on the old set of LEGOs his kids left on the stairs. Broke two ribs and an ankle. He’ll be out of commission for two weeks.” Curran shook his head. “He picked a hell of a time. If i didn’t need him, I’d kill him.”

    loved the bonus! Thanks guys!

  6. dale_mettam

Thanks. The bonus comics are just Court and myself having fun. No stories, no rules, just us doing some free-style rapping.

Except, there’s no beatbox… or wild gesturing of limbs… and pencils are involved… and we’re not really inner-city… and we don’t have names like C-Man Hudd & Dr Dee… but besides that, EXACTLY like free-style rapping.

the bonus was great i think misfortune would tear shit up with a viberanium shield interesting that pain was the only one who had to use jerry-rig some claws sarrow was able to steal parkers powers and well that is some serious wicked free-stylin you got goin man

  8. L.C.S

Brace yourselves for another Wall Street Crash! :)

  9. keylaleigh

Well, what can be more painful to acquire than random pencil-claws?

  10. dale_mettam

That claw with the fuse is the one that worries me!

(Just in case readers are confused, this is the bonus comic you can see, if you’re quick, and follow the voting link above.)

*facepalm* Spider-man is a bit emo at time, I will concede that…

  12. dale_mettam

Really a perfect fit for the movie version of Spidey!

Having worked for almost 20 years at the government regulator for investment products in my country and worked in the call centre advising the public on how to spot a risky investment, I think I am very well qualified to comment on this comic.

Can anyone here say “Ponzi Scheme!!!!”? 😉
    How about “Unrealistic Expectations!”?
Or maybe “Done your dough” will get the message across?

For anyone thinking of investing, the general “rule of thumb” is to calculate the yearly (not monthly) return you’ve been told to expect and if the return is 8% or higher, it’s very risky.

I’m not going to bother calculating the exact yearly return from “150% in six weeks”, but I’d guess it would come out at well over 1000% per year which in my experience shouts “SCAM!!!!” so loudly you could hear it in Saskatchawan, while wearing ear muffs, buried in a concrete bunker with “Black Sabbath” pounding away at 110db in the background.

(I just had to throw Saskatchawan in there. It’s one of the funniest words around) 😉

Blast. Somehow managed to not close the bold tag properly. :-(

  15. dale_mettam

I gonna guess then you don’t wanna look at some real estate in Florida that Pain bought and is now trying to sell. Failing that, Misfortune can hook you up with a guy who will get you a great deal on a bridge currently located in the Brooklyn area.

  16. comichero

I might bite on the bridge deal could set up toll booths but spidey and emo go together like peanut butter and jelly

  17. Alyshazzar

The next thing you’re gonna tell me is that Avarice actually resembles that lizard selling car insurance on the TV.

Also, is it childish that I’m amused my CAPTCHA says FUKK?

  18. Ragedoll

why would they leave the money with Pain? Haha!

  19. dale_mettam

A minor flaw in an otherwise faultless plan. This could be a recurring theme. 😀
