History Ain’t What It Was #17

I can at least confirm NO ONE was institutionalized as a result of Pain.

Hey, LPI Readers, we’re gonna be hitting San Diego Comic Con in a couple of weeks.  Don’t worry, we’ll have everything set here, so regular comics strips will appear, but we might be a little less active in the comments for a few days during the con.  Any of you guys gonna hit the convention?  Let us know.

    Don’t tell me…….
It was ‘Pain’ with the matches again!

  2. Kiriel

With all these accidents caused by Pain you’d think he was Misfortune, and not Alisdair.

  3. keylaleigh

No, he just ate too much and the motions of him walking down the street caused the aftershocks.

  4. Wisdn

@keyla Awesome. I personally think that Pain caused everyone too much…pain…with the matches, Tears made everyone feel worse, and Alisdair just caused some misfortune to top it all off. A potent mixture of all three of them if there ever was one. Or…maybe this is the one small section of 3 or 4 blocks that was spared.

Awesome! haha, I like the bonus comic, very nice “costumes” haha

hmm, the imps are evil… yes? if so, why do they seem so mad at Pain for causing all this… pain? it sounds like hes just doing his job.

also, you would (or maybe you wouldn’t) expect such a young girl to be more… i dunno appaled at the level of destruction around her…

ok, soo.. philosophising over, lets see some explosions.

@Revok – what you have to do is look at the big picture for the reaction of the other Imps. In fairness, Tears is kinda like an old woman who gets kinda irked about everything… because that generally leads to upset, which leads to… you guessed it… waterworks.

With Alisdair he is VERY conflicted. If Pain does something that technically is in Misfortune’s professional domain, that will be annoying. However, that he changed his name shows he’s trying to change the reputation he has (and will always have)… but he is still Misfortune.

Add to this that slowly but surely Luci IS having an impact on the Imps (well, Al and Tears anyway) and things are never gonna be as cut and dried as they perhaps should be.

As for Luci’s reaction… I would like to see the adult who could realistically react to something like teleportation time travel to major global disasters and not be somewhat dazed and in awe… let alone an eight-year-old kid.

…and… y’ know… it IS a comic strip… aimed at being funny more that an accurate study of the psychological impact of time-travel, disasters and the existential meaning of evil.

afctualy it was the fire department with dynamite trying to put out fires as they whater lines had broke during the first quake and more so in the resulting aftershocks makeing true the old addage that desprate times call for deprate measures there did they get the dynamite you ask wellthey got it from the national guard that were protecting the fedral reserve bank from looters

  10. Ragedoll

LOL @Dale, you are so generous with your explanations, I would just say that Luci is corrupting the imps… but in reverse

Generosity is one of my many flaws.

From the looks of things, if our four characters were on a island gameshow competition thing,
that pain would be voted off first and also in humiliating fashion to boot.

  13. Wisdn

@Rage I second that. @Topazert But not before he caused major indigestion to the host for being allowed to eat “real” meals that he/she didn’t have to rummage around the island to find.

  14. dale_mettam

@Tpazart & Wisdn – Pain would eat the host.

Great stuff. I loved the bonus, as I am a fan of those “costumes” lol
