Tee-Ball #03

This is clearly all very confusing…. and not at all the kinda thing Tears or Pain are usually into.

Thanks for sharing your views yesterday on what makes and breaks a web comic for you all.  As ever, you’ve shown us just how smart and savvy Luci Phurr’s Imps readers are.

And to just jump off a comment made by Dangerdoll, we REALLY value all our readers…. even the many many quiet ones.  We feel that you are investing a little of your busy day with us, and we strive to make sure you feel that was a good trade for your time.  Thanks.  You guys rock.  All of you.

I think someone needs to invest some time to teach Pain and Tears about this game…

  2. Dan Genesis

Al’s having another aneurysm. Which has apparently become my new favorite word.

  3. Kiriel

Not their kinda thing.. but right up Misfortune.. I mean, Alisdair’s Alley ;3

  4. DktrAgonizer

I’m with Pain, actually. Sports would be more fun if the goal was to break things. And people.

    @DktrAgonizer

Wait, that isn’t the goal of sports? I could have sworn it was.

  6. Marvelous TK

Man, I feel this one, right here man. A bunch of sticks, and the only thing you’re allowed to hit with them is the thing that bounces safely off. What kind of monster designs such an activity?

*facepalm* Honestly, that’s my reaction to basically any sport. I get that exercise is healthy and all, but the minute someone starts talking about batting averages and the merits of one player compared to another I feel like banging my head against a wall. Tee-ball is the exact same darn thing for little kids, and I can’t wait to see what you’ve got planned with the sports storyline – though I may not get the jokes.

Also, just to clarify, the “Rachel Stern” comments in the last update are also mine. I decided on another name when I was getting the Gravatar. Just FYI if it matters.

If only all sports revolved around contact…Golf would be so much more entertaining.

Wait until Tears learns that they don’t keep score in T-ball. With no winners and especially no losers (because everyone “participates”), Tears isn’t going to have much to do. That’s why I can’t stand this game. My nephew’s league doesn’t keep score so the little ones won’t feel pressure to perform or have their feelings hurt if they lose.

    I mean…really?

  10. MaxAndCo.

@garym43 they really don’t keep score? how idiotic! if kids don’t learn how to lose nicely, in the big leagues, they won’t lose nicely! ah, well. more fun for tears

    So many possibilities.

The imps are going to LOVE tee ball once they know the potential for mayhem.

@Malverne: Contact sports are way more engaging, though I have trouble envisioning full-contact swimming. It always degrades into some bizarre permutation of mud-wrestling in my mind.

  12. Malverne

Full contact swimming involves no lanes. You can grab onto ankles, or kick people in the face. THe only problem with that is the slight possibility of drowning.

  13. Aletheya

It looks like Alisdair will have a lot to teach.

I was never allowed to play tee-ball as a kid, apparently in the town where I lived the imps had already wreaked havoc as it was SO competitive that there were occasionally mom-fights. So my mom never let me play… :(

Yes, I am with Pain also. That is why I like ol’ skool Hockey and Rugby, hurt or get hurt! Poor Al, he is really having a hard time with this whole “coaching” thing.

IF you think about it the world is filled to the brim with weird games if you explained it in a certain way
